In addition, please do not judge the Senior hounds as being too old. Adult and Senior dogs are most always house trained, full of love and are just wanting to be given that chance to show you how special they can be. Many of the Senior hounds get over looked and will most likely live out their life at Rescue if not given a chance. Please contact us about additional information on any of the Rescues and consider giving a Senior dog a chance along with the younger ones.

For another budget-friendly black bathroom update, opt for some black bathroom storage. We love ladder towel storage and Tikamoon makes a really similar design to the one below for just £29. There is so much potential and opportunity to play around with this color to create the perfect look in our primary bathroom.

Hint of White

Picture exquisite chandeliers casting a warm, ambient glow, vintage mirrors reflecting a bygone era, and steampunk-inspired furniture adding a touch of intrigue. Imagine the striking combination of black aesthetics and floor-to-ceiling windows that redefine the space. Benefit from an abundance of natural light flooding in, illuminating the room and creating a sense of openness. Experience the luxury of enjoying breathtaking views while maintaining privacy.

Minimalist Bathroom with Open Shower and Patterned Floor

The subtle contrast between a white frame and black is also remarkable compared to other styles. Even when working with a small space, adding a vanity set complements your bathroom design. Whether big or small, you can transform your black bathroom into a modern, functional haven. There are many modern black bathroom ideas to work with, so it all depends on your visual interest. You need to protect the floors and remove any hardware attached to the tub.

Finish it off with black lighting

This can turn the bathroom, often seen merely as a functional space, into a personal retreat—a haven for relaxation and rejuvenation at the end of a long day. Any black bathroom with a black and white color scheme creates a clean, high contrast look. Although natural wood has been common in the past, painted trims are making a comeback on the list of trendy black bathroom ideas.

Try a Skirted Sink

Not only will it be eye-catching against jet black cabinetry, but it will be practical too. If you're considering going dark, read on to discover black bathroom ideas with expert design tips to inspire your next makeover. This North Dakota bathroom features a sleek black-and-white palette that lends contrast to the wooden ceiling. It’s unusual to hang wallpaper in a bathroom, but if your room’s well ventilated and the wallpaper itself is water resistant, or won’t be splashed, consider the strategy. Here, the wallpaper by Little Greene repeats the charcoal colors in the bath and Roman blind creating a really cohesive black bathroom.

If you're searching for a simple way to incorporate black into your bathroom, consider painting the inside of your bathroom door black to add a super chic, modern feel. This look works by contrasting light tiles in a white bathroom, but it also plays well with other moody colors such as navy or hunter green. If you're looking for a great tile to pair with black accents, consider keeping it simple with subway tile.

This beautiful bath designed by KitchenLab Interiors includes eye-catching floral wallpaper. The black base brings out the white blooms, while the black and white patterned floor adds to the bathroom's design. Choosing to decorate your bathroom in black and white will ensure that it outlasts trends and looks great without ever appearing to be trying too hard.

The red rug on the black herringbone tiles makes a traditional touch. In this black walk-in shower, the black wall tiles create a visual illusion with their glossy surfaces while black and white floor tiles bringing a mosaic appeal. The recessed niche and the built-in bench maximizing the showers’ functionality. The glass separation panels provide a seamless look for this walk-in shower. Whether it’s abstract designs, architectural photography, or iconic black-and-white portraits, the gallery wall becomes a focal point that adds depth and personality to your bathroom. Immerse yourself in a creative oasis where every detail enhances the aesthetic appeal and creates a visually stunning sanctuary.

And you will see that a black bathroom is timeless, elegant, and the right fit for your home. After having metal and stone, I added subtle elements of black to tie it all together. I would then have created the perfect industrial look in my primary bathroom. It’s a sophisticated primary bathroom with a walk-in shower, large vanity, charming skirted stool, and a classy chandelier.

She loves boho and 70's style and is a big fan of Instagram as a source of interiors inspiration. When she isn't writing about interiors, she is renovating her own spaces – be it wallpapering a hallway, painting kitchen cupboards or converting a van. 'Choosing rich deep, dark shades to create a dramatic, snug space conjures a sense of elegance and sophistication that you might find in a boutique hotel bathroom.

Keeping the darker elements of the room to the lower half, with white or neutral furnishings and decor in the upper part, will help the space feel lighter and brighter all round. Geometric flooring rather than a solid black, which will show up every mark and speck of dust, is a smart choice. Deviating from the masculine connotations of black bathroom design, why not add a punchy or pastel pink to make the boys (and girls) wink. Not only will it feminize your space, but it also add decadent French style to your salle de bains. This floral motif by The Curious Department is the perfect girly-yet-grown-up design.

It not only adds a refreshing contrast but also brings a sense of brightness to the room. The juxtaposition of the dark surroundings with a light splashback creates a visual harmony that's both striking and calming. 'It's important to balance out the heaviness of black with warm accents like brass, wood, warm stones and dramatic light fixtures. Our black bathroom ideas below show you how to introduce this dramatic color into your scheme be it in small accents or from floor to ceiling.

Go all-black for a moody feel, or mix in white fixtures, tile, or metallic finishes to add contrast. More dramatic than paint or wallpaper, bold, dark tiles add heaps of glamour but are still in keeping with that moodier vibe. If this look is a bit too Tim Burton for you, try using black bathroom tiles over a smaller surface area like a splashback, the walls of a shower or around a fireplace. Durable and water resistant (if properly maintained), black stone can also add plenty of character to your bathroom. Polished finishes will be less porous, and therefore more long-lasting, but watch out – if laid as bathroom flooring, they can be slippery, so a mat or rug is appropriate.

You can install fixtures with a dark color to move away from the traditional colors and make your black bathroom stand out. They’re popular in kitchen designs, and they’ve made their way into modern bathroom concepts. If you want a black and white bathroom design, these tiles are a worthy option.

For the past several years, neutral colors like gray and off-white have been the standard for interior decorating. While gray and white are easy colors to match with and build onto, they can come off cold and lacking in character. Terracotta is the new neutral color if you’re over those bland grays and whites, and it'll give your home a warmth and elegance that you didn’t know you were missing. Many parents complain about their children draw on the walls, this bathroom with the black chalkboard walls is creative heaven for the children or anyone who likes drawing or writing. The sink is kept very small to leave the wall to the drawings and the window lets the sunshine in, prevents the room from being dark with black chalkboard walls.

Royal Caribbean Gratuities What You Need to Know in 2024

• Reserve entertainment ahead of time, and stick to shows early in the week
• Regent Seven Seas Cruises

Many passengers, however, still like to leave extra tips for their stateroom attendant and dining room waiters at the end of the cruise. Some jobs might even allow you to shift your hours when you're traveling, getting up early or working late in order to take advantage of time in cruise ports with your family or friends. This can be especially beneficial when you're working around school vacations and taking your own job requirements into consideration. Even if you only end up having a few days at sea, that's plenty of time to find amazing adventures. Choosing your destination carefully is also a travel tip that can help your vacation feel more relaxing. Picking an itinerary with more chill time and less sightseeing makes a big difference.

Royal Caribbean Gratuities Breakdown

On September 7th, 2022, RCI's cruise gratuities were increased to US$16 (Junior Suites and below) while Grand Suite and above categories were charged US$18,50 pp per day. Instead of getting upset over a cold, rainy day in port, maintain a positive attitude. Find a cozy saloon to enjoy a warm Irish coffee, or bundle up in your rain gear and make the most of the day. Cheap cruises are never a guarantee, but one trend we have noticed in the past few years is that Alaska cruises in the shoulder season are often heavily discounted at the last minute. One of our favorite “tricks” when planning an Alaska cruise on Royal Caribbean is to take advantage of cheap last-minute sailings.

How Much to Tip Cruise Ship Officers

At the end of the cruise, Royal Caribbean charges the credit card linked to your account for everything purchased onboard throughout the trip — as well as gratuities. In addition to the daily gratuity, select onboard purchases are subject to extra service charges, such as alcoholic and select non-alcoholic beverages (including Royal Caribbean drink packages) and spa treatments. In short, port fees are fees charged by the ports of call to the cruise line, who then pass these fees on to passengers.

Reserve entertainment ahead of time, and stick to shows early in the week

Doing research will help you pack correctly, plan your travel logistics without any issues, and book that once-in-a-lifetime excursion you’ve dreamed about for years. Although the service comes with a small fee in addition to any airline baggage fees, it offers unparalleled convenience for travelers. One of my favorite Alaska cruise “hacks” is to utilize Seattle-Tacoma International Airport’s luggage valet service. Dinner in the Main Dining Room is a traditional part of any cruise experience, but think twice before selecting your dining time.

Regent Seven Seas Cruises

Since you might be served by different members of the same service teams, this automatic gratuity ensures fair distribution of the gratuity and appreciation. You can opt into prepaying gratuities at any time, up to 48 hours prior to your sail date. Every so often, Royal Caribbean adjusts the gratuity rate, but if you have opted to prepay, you will be grandfathered into the old rate.

Included cruise tips as a booking perk

The gratuities on Royal Caribbean Cruises are automatically added to the SeaPass account of the guests if they have not been pre-paid prior to boarding. You can get the gratuity charges added to your daily bill onboard the ship or you can choose to prepay it while booking the cruise. Think of the daily gratuity charge as a tip for the work that crew members do throughout the day and night during your cruise vacation. Guests must pay a set amount per person, per day for daily gratuities, with the amount based on the stateroom type. Today, a family of four in a balcony cabin on a 7-night cruise will pay $504 in gratuities, whereas the same family in a suite will pay $574.

Learn About Credit Cards

I've had bartenders who recognize me after two or three visits and remember my go-to drink order throughout the sailing. If, for example, the online Cruise Planner is advertising the daily rate of the Deluxe Beverage Package at $75.99, you'll have to multiply that by 18% (0.18) to get the actual cost. Thankfully, this means that you won't have to worry about tipping for each drink that you order. If you like to pay for your cruise monthly, then you can add the gratuities to your monthly payment. The breakdown of gratuities is carefully worked out to be fair for all crew members. If you tip individuals instead, you may be doing a disservice to staff members who you haven’t met personally, such as the kitchen staff or cleaners.

Alaska, for instance, is known for having more expensive docking fees than The Bahamas or Europe. In short, gratuities should not be viewed as an optional extra, but more as a required service fee, which ensures fare wages for the hardworking cruise crew. Accordingly, when planning your cruise vacation budget, be sure to factor in the estimated cost of gratuities for the duration of your sailing.

It also doesn't matter which ship you're on, as gratuities onboard the brand-new Icon of the Seas will be the same price as those on Enchantment of the Seas, a Vision Class vessel that launched in 1997. If you want to recognise outstanding service by a particular crew member, then head to the Guest Services desk and fill out a ‘WOW card’. Your positive feedback will go on their permanent file, which can help them to get promotions and pay rises. You may also wish to give some cash to porters who help with your luggage outside of the ship, particularly if you start your cruise in the United States where this is customary. Some people like to give gifts such as chocolates or wine to the crew members.

If you don’t have a credit card, then you’ll need to link a debit card to your onboard account, or deposit cash. At the end of your cruise, you’ll receive an envelope that you can use to give extra cash tips if you wish. During your cruise check-in, you will establish your onboard SeaPass account, where all purchases and gratuities are tracked since cash is not used on cruise ships.

While cash is the most direct way to tip individual staff members, non-cash methods like credit cards usually can’t be used for this purpose. For additional tips on a Royal Caribbean cruise, U.S. dollars are generally preferred, but other major currencies are often accepted. If you want to add a couple of extra cash tips to your waiter or room attendant, you are free to do so, but it is no way expected. It’s customary and appreciated to tip guides and staff, especially if you’ve received exceptional service. When you choose to apply (and are approved) for a new credit card through our site, we may receive compensation from our partners, and this may impact how or where these products appear.

Check the tour’s cancellation policies—and whether or not they provide a guaranteed arrival back to port before your ship's departure—before booking. The key, no matter your circumstances, is being strategic — both in terms of using weekends and holidays to your advantage, as well as using your time wisely as you travel. Ready to try out these expert tips as told by Royal Caribbean’s crew members? Look for your next vacation and browse the cruises you have to choose from here. From seafood spots to Italian trattorias and Japanese sushi and hibachi, there’s a variety of food from around the world at your fingertips, hundreds of cocktails and wines, and even zero-proof drinks. Since many of the most memorable moments on vacation happen while breaking bread, we turned to Linken D’Souza, head of food and beverage, and Captain Sindre Borsheim for their favorite eats and top tips.

Royal Caribbean offers guests the choice of prepaying gratuities for select crew members on its ships. Unlike some cruise lines that have age limits for young passengers, everyone pays the daily gratuity amount on Royal Caribbean. On Royal Caribbean cruises, a standard gratuity fee of $16.00 per person, per day is charged, while guests staying in Grand Suites and higher categories pay $18.50 per person, per day. Still, some people do leave a little extra for crew members who go above and beyond. Others tip their room service or waitstaff at their favorite bar, either early in the cruise in the hope of getting better service or at the end to thank them for enhancing the vacation experience. How much to tip extra on a cruise is entirely up to you because it is in no way required.

Outside of clothing, there are other essentials you should pack for an Alaska cruise. While not required, bringing items like motion-sickness medication, binoculars, and cabin essentials like outlet adapters are helpful to have handy. One of my favorite aspects of cruising to Alaska is the pre-cruise stay in Seattle or Vancouver. Not only do both of these cities offer breathtaking natural scenery, but they boast an impressive amount of things to do within the city, too. At the end of the day, enjoying a vacation without taking time off is not as insurmountable a challenge as it may seem, particularly if you can strike a balance between relaxation and productivity.

If you have not yet booked excursions for your 2024 Alaska cruise, book them as soon as possible. How much time you can take off work depends not only on your company and the terms of your employment but also on the needs of your team and the demands of your job. If you're an accountant, taking unpaid time off might be a taller order in March than it is after tax day has passed. Likewise, if you work on a small team and have a colleague out on leave, you might not be able to take unpaid time off at all.

Royal Caribbean sends four cruise ships to Alaska each season, and each ship varies from one another. Although ships in the same class, such as Quantum of the Seas and Ovation of the Seas, share similarities, they still offer varied dining venues, entertainment, and decor. In Seattle, for instance, you’ll want to research the best way to get from the airport to your hotel, and from your hotel to the cruise port.

This means that if you’re a family of three with two adults and a baby, you’ll pay the same amount in gratuities as a group of three adults. If you decide that you'd like to prepay them, there are a couple of ways to go about doing so. First, you can simply add them to your reservation directly from the website when you book. If you happen to forget or had not made up your mind when you booked, you can call Royal Caribbean before your cruise. Finally, those using a travel agent will have to let them know, and they'll take care of it for it.

Although this may seem high for infants, keep in mind that crew members do a lot of extra work for them, such as setting up travel cots, pureeing food, and cleaning up after mealtimes. Tipping is not necessary in kids' clubs (as kids' counselors are usually considered part of the better-compensated entertainment staff rather than the tip-dependent service staff). For a half-day shore excursion, give the guide $2, or $4 to $5 for a full-day excursion. If you are in a suite or aboard a luxury cruise, you may have a butler assigned to your room. Since they typically have more duties to meet, a good guideline, is a supplementary tip of $3 to $5 per night, per person. Gratuities on a Royal Caribbean cruise are priced per day, but the amount owed depends on your stateroom category.

The daily gratuities is in addition to the 18% gratuity automatically added to all beverages, mini bar items, and spa & salon purchases. If you add cash to your account during the cruise, it will go towards your whole account in general, not just towards gratuities specifically. If, for some highly unlikely reason, you don’t find that the service on your cruise was anywhere close to satisfactory, you are able to remove the automatic gratuities from your account. To do that, you can visit Guest Services on the ship all the way up until the last morning of the cruise. You can also visit Guest Services to change the amount of gratuities you pay. The daily amount is the same for all guests in a stateroom regardless of their age, from babies all the way to adults.

How Much to Tip Shore Excursion Guides

The bags are then delivered and checked onto your flight on disembarkation morning, meaning you won’t see your bags again until you arrive at your home airport. Dreading transporting your luggage from the cruise terminal to the airport check-in desk? Royal Caribbean and the Port of Seattle offer a luggage valet service, which allows you to bypass standard airport check-in. As your ship sails away from each port of call in Alaska, you will be rewarded with stunning views of the Inside Passage, and you won’t want to miss sailaway each evening. However, sailaway times often overlap with the early dining time, meaning you’ll miss these scenic sailings if you're in the Main Dining Room. When packing for an Alaska cruise, we recommend bringing a pair of sneakers that are water resistant.

Research low-cost things to do in port if you’re on a budget

Piano bar regulars know that a cash tip will increase the chances of the pianist choosing and performing your song request. For instance, in recent years, Norwegian often ran Free at Sea promotions that included free crew tips in addition to free shipboard Wi-Fi and a free drinks package. The line hasn't been doing that as much lately, but these offers often come back at times when brands need to drum up more business. That said, the total number of lines with a service fee has been shrinking over the years. Many smaller and higher-end cruise operators are folding tips and gratuities into their base fares.

When booking a hotel in Seattle or Vancouver (or Anchorage/Seward for one-way itineraries), you will want to book a hotel in a convenient location. In Sitka, for instance, you can enjoy a leisurely walk through the Sitka National Historic Park, which comes at no extra cost and is within walking distance from the town center. Likewise, you could take a shuttle bus to Mendenhall Glacier in Juneau for $45 roundtrip, which is much cheaper than excursions booked through the cruise line. The last thing you want to happen is have your dream excursion sell out, leaving you scrambling to find other plans. Plus, excursions tend to only get more expensive over time, so booking early helps you lock in a lower price. Whether you’re confused about what to pack or overwhelmed with the dozens of shore excursion offerings, the planning process can quickly seem more stressful than enjoyable.

It’s unlikely you will meet every crew member onboard who would otherwise receive a percentage of gratuities. Although details on how gratuities are allocated are not shared with the public, it’s likely Royal Caribbean has a pool of gratuities that is split amongst the crew members. Bringing small bills is recommended on a cruise, as it allows you to tip crew members easily throughout the sailing. Having $1 and $5 bills handy is helpful when you want to give a bartender a small tip with your drink or tip a porter for handling your baggage on embarkation day.
